How to use Progress

Use Progress with your classes to easily view and understand student progress in Seesaw. Progress is available to all teachers and administrators who are part of a Seesaw for Schools subscription or teachers previewing Seesaw's Premium Features. To access, tap the Progress tab when logged into your Seesaw account from a web browser.

Note: the Progress feature is not available on mobile. Teachers who are using the Seesaw Class app on mobile will still see the old Skills tab.

With Progress, teachers and admin can:

  • Aid students in staying on track by pinpointing missing or incomplete activities.
  • Target further instruction where it’s needed most. 
  • Teachers can also filter and monitor student progress by Student Group (if using the feature). 
  • Know who’s completed what, all in one view.

Within Progress, there are two views: Activities View and Skills View:

  • the Activities View provides a complete overview of student progress on Activities assigned to classes in Seesaw.
  • use the Skills View to track student mastery of skills or standards,.
What is the Activities View?

With the Progress feature, teachers and admins using Seesaw for Schools and teachers previewing Seesaw's Premium Features can easily view and understand student progress in Seesaw.

  1. Tap the Progress tab.
  2. Tap Activities View.
  3. Filter by date range in the upper left corner.
  4. Filter by student name, student group, Skills, or Activities. Users can search within a filter and choose one filter or multiple filters at once for ultimate flexibility.
What is the Skills View?

Skills View provides a complete overview of student progress on key skills and standards tagged to posts in Seesaw classes.

  3. Filter by date range in the upper left corner.

Progress FAQs

Who can use Progress?
Progress is a premium Seesaw feature, part of Seesaw for Schools. Teachers and admins with Seesaw for Schools or teachers previewing Seesaw's Premium Features can view the Progress tab for each class they have access to. 

Progress is not visible to students or families. 

Teachers can tap on a student’s name to copy a report from the Activities View or Skills View to share with students or families as needed.

Students can go to the To-Do section in their Activities tab to see what activities they need to complete. Students and families cannot see Skills that are tagged to Activities.

Can I use Progress on the iOS or Android app?
Yes, Progress is available on the Seesaw mobile app.

Can I export Progress data out of Seesaw? 
Yes, Progress data can be exported as a CSV file and imported into the spreadsheet system of your choice! 

1. Tap the Progress tab.

2. Select the date range you want using the Selected Date menu located at the top left, and choose whether you want your data exported in Activities View or Skills View. 

3. Tap Export to download your CSV.

Can I view links to student responses in bulk?

By following the steps above to export Progress data in bulk, you can view all Student Post url's in CSV format.
