Using the Standards View in the Progress tab

Skills are transitioning to Sitewide Standards
In June 2024, all premium school and district customers were transitioned to Sitewide Standards. Teachers can download and export existing Skills before December 2024. Seesaw Plus (legacy) customers can continue using Skills and download data until December 2024. 💡 Learn more about Sitewide Standards!

The Standards View is a dashboard that provides a complete overview of student progress on standards tagged to posts in Seesaw classes. With Progress, teachers and admins can easily track growth and progress against standards. As Standards are graded, all data tracking is reflected in the Standards dashboard, simplifying standards-based report cards, progress reports, data collection for RTI, and differentiation. Additionally, Admins on a Seesaw Instruction and Insights subscription can use the Learning Insights dashboard for school and district level reporting.

How do I use the Standards View?

The Standards View helps teachers understand student mastery of key standards. You can see the number of posts a student has completed for each Standard, as well as the color that corresponds to their most recent mastery.

  1. Tap the Progress tab. Individual student, group, or classwide progress across Standards.

  2. Tap Standards View.

  3. Filter by date range in the upper left corner.

  4. Filter by Student name, Student Groups, Folders, or Standards as desired. Users can search within a filter and choose one filter or multiple filters at once. Multiple standards can be reviewed at once. Updated data will appear in the dashboard.

How can I get a Standards Progress Report for a specific student?
  1. Tap a student name to view a Standards Progress Report.

  2. To send progress as a message, tap Message to Family.
  3. Tap the Copy button to copy the details of the Standards report dates and ratings. You can paste this information into a message or document to provide to the student or family members or for school records.
  4. You can also print the Standards Progress report.
How can I export Standards data for the class?
If you need to export Standards data for the whole class: Tap the Export button.
Select your preferred date range and tap the Export button. Note: the report date range is not based on the Standards View date range.

This will download a .csv file providing the following data: Student name, Student ID, Student Last Active Date, Standard Code, Standard Description, Standard Grade Level, Student Post Standard Rating, Student Post Create Date, Student Post Link, Activity Name, Activity Assigned Date, Folders
Reviewing Standards-tagged Activities in the Class Journal
Teachers can also filter the Class Journal to review standards-tagged activities that have been completed.  To review, tap on the Journal tab.
Tap the Standards button. Filter by Standard/State, Grade, Subject, and Standard code, as needed.
Once you've entered your search criteria, tap the green Check and all applicable activities will populate in the Journal.
Please note: families and students will NOT see the Progress Standards View or be able to tell which Standards their children have been tagged in. You can, of course, choose to share that information with families during parent-teacher conferences if that would be helpful in sparking meaningful conversation!
