How to send Announcements

Seesaw Administrators can send text and multimedia announcements in a school from the School Dashboard via Messages. Announcements are helpful for scenarios such as sending newsletters and reminders to families and staff members about schoolwide events.

  • School admins can select the audience for announcements: students, teachers, and/or families in some or all classes in a school. District admin can send announcements across schools within their district. 
  • Students, teachers, and families receive notifications and can view Announcements in their Messages.

To create an Announcement:

  1. Go to Messages and tap the pencil icon. Select New Announcement from the dropdown.
  2. Select Audience for the Announcement by tapping on Add Classes.
    1. Select teachers, family members, and/or students by tapping the box next to each audience.
    2. Select Classes by tapping the box next to each class. You also have the option to filter by school, grade level, or select all classes. 

*If you are a district admin, you will need to be listed as a school admin at each school to select from the drop-down list.

  1. Once recipients are selected, tap Add Selected
  2. Individually add recipients (such as School Admins) who don't fall into the above categories.

  3. Compose the Announcement message in the text box. 
  4. Multimedia attachments can be added to the Announcement by tapping the green +Add icon to access Creative Tools.
  5. When you're done creating your Announcement, tap the Send button.
