Audience: Teachers with Seesaw Instruction & Insights
Free Response assessment allows teachers to collect open text responses to formative assessment questions from students, autograde those responses, and aggregate response data in reporting. Teachers can choose Short Answer or Open Ended questions. Short Answer questions are automatically graded. Teachers will see actionable reporting at the class and student level, along with a streamlined manual grading workflow.

Note: Teachers can make manual changes and updates to autograded work if needed.
What happens if an Activity with Free Response assessment is shared with a teacher who doesn't have Seesaw Instruction and Insights?
In this scenario, the Activities sent to a teacher without SI&I can be viewed and assigned, but not edited. Free Response questions will be downgraded to a label for the question and text Frame with no AI or manual grading option.
