Managing Family connections

In your class, go to Class Settings and scroll to the Family section to view and manage family connections. From here, you can:
    •    View connected family members
    •    Approve pending connection requests
    •    Remove family members
    •    Check invitation status
    •    Resend invitations when needed
 

View family connection status

View connected family members in Invite Families.

Each family member will display one of the following statuses:

StatusDescription
ConnectedThe family member has accepted the invitation and can access the student's journal.
Invite SentAn invitation has been sent but has not yet been accepted.
Pending ApprovalA family member requested access using a class invite link and is waiting for teacher approval.
Approve pending family requests

If a family member joins using a class invite link, you'll need to approve their request before they can access the student's journal. Once approved, they'll be connected automatically.

Note: Family members who connect using a student's unique Family Invite QR code do not require approval. They receive immediate access because the QR code is unique to that student's journal.

  1. Tap Inbox, then Notifications.
  2. Approve any pending family requests.
  3. Or, go to Class Settings > Pending Family Approvals to approve requests there.
Remove a family member

You can remove a family member's access at any time.

  1. Open Class Settings.
  2. Select Manage Families.
  3. Select the student.
  4. Select Remove from Class and confirm.
Resend a family invitation
  1. Open Invite Families.
  2. Select the student.
  3. Locate the pending invitation.
  4. Select Resend Invitation.
Troubleshoot family connections

A family member can't connect

  • Confirm they're signing in with the same email address or phone number that received the invitation.
  • Verify the invitation is still pending.
  • Resend the invitation if needed.

I don't see a family member

  • Confirm the student has been added to the class.
  • Make sure Family Access is enabled.
  • Check whether the family member is waiting for approval.
Reset family invite codes

Warning: Resetting codes also resets your Class QR Code. Students will be signed out and will need a new Class QR Code to sign in again. Families who haven't connected yet will also need a new Family Invite QR code or invite link.

  1. Open Class Settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and select Reset Class QR Code and Family Invite Codes.
  3. Select Reset All Codes to confirm.
