Audience: School and District Admins
Rolling out Seesaw is easiest when your school is prepared before teachers and students begin using it. Use this checklist to configure your school, prepare teachers, and ensure everyone is ready for a successful launch.
Before introducing Seesaw to teachers, make sure you've completed the following:
- Set up your School or District Administrator account.
- Configured your Schoolwide Settings.
- Verify your class roster (or complete your roster sync if using Clever, ClassLink, Wonde, or another rostering integration).
- Confirm that teachers have been added to your school.
Phase 1: Prepare Your School
Complete these setup tasks before inviting teachers.
Configure Schoolwide Settings
Review your school's settings to ensure teachers have the correct permissions and default classroom experience.
Verify Rosters
If your school uses automated rostering, confirm that:
- Teachers appear correctly.
- Students are assigned to the correct classes.
- Archived classes have been reviewed.
If you manage classes manually, create classes and add teachers before launch.
Prepare Devices
If students will use shared devices:
- Install the Seesaw app. iOS Devices: Seesaw App. Android Devices: Seesaw App.
- Chromebooks: Install the Seesaw Chrome App and Reflect in Seesaw Chrome Extension. Note: The Android Seesaw App is NOT compatible with Chromebooks at this time.
- Other Computers: Make sure computers have the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, or Edge installed. Bookmark the https://app.seesaw.me website.
- Enable automatic app updates.
- Verify camera and microphone permissions.
- Test student sign-in on at least one device..
- Learn more about supported devices and platforms.
For teachers, ensure they have access to a supported web browser and can sign in successfully.
Phase 2: Prepare your teachers
Help teachers feel confident before students begin using Seesaw.
Send a Welcome Message
Introduce Seesaw, explain why your school is using it, and let teachers know what to expect during implementation.
Include:
- Why your school chose Seesaw
- When teachers should begin using it
- Where to find training resources
- Who to contact for support

Encourage Teachers to Explore
Before students arrive, encourage teachers to:
- Sign in to Seesaw.
- Review their class roster.
- Explore the Activity Library. Learn more about the school-wide library.
- Create a practice activity or announcement. Instructions for creating an activity can be found here.
- Invite a colleague or instructional coach if appropriate.
Phase 3: Launch with Students
Once teachers are ready, you're ready to introduce Seesaw in classrooms.
During the first week:
- Verify students can successfully sign in.
- Help teachers connect families.
- Encourage teachers to assign their first activity.
- Monitor your Administrator Dashboard for any issues.
Common Launch Tips
- Complete rostering before inviting teachers whenever possible.
- Test student sign-in on classroom devices before the first day.
- Review Schoolwide Settings before teachers begin creating classroom routines.
- Share support resources with teachers before questions arise.
