Launch Seesaw at your school

null Audience: School and District Admins

Rolling out Seesaw is easiest when your school is prepared before teachers and students begin using it. Use this checklist to configure your school, prepare teachers, and ensure everyone is ready for a successful launch.

Before introducing Seesaw to teachers, make sure you've completed the following:

  • Set up your School or District Administrator account.
  • Configured your Schoolwide Settings.
  • Verify your class roster (or complete your roster sync if using Clever, ClassLink, Wonde, or another rostering integration).
  • Confirm that teachers have been added to your school.

Phase 1: Prepare Your School

Complete these setup tasks before inviting teachers.

Configure Schoolwide Settings

Review your school's settings to ensure teachers have the correct permissions and default classroom experience.

Verify Rosters

If your school uses automated rostering, confirm that:

  • Teachers appear correctly.
  • Students are assigned to the correct classes.
  • Archived classes have been reviewed.

If you manage classes manually, create classes and add teachers before launch.

Prepare Devices

If students will use shared devices:

For teachers, ensure they have access to a supported web browser and can sign in successfully.

Phase 2: Prepare your teachers

Help teachers feel confident before students begin using Seesaw.

Send a Welcome Message

Introduce Seesaw, explain why your school is using it, and let teachers know what to expect during implementation.

Include:

  • Why your school chose Seesaw
  • When teachers should begin using it
  • Where to find training resources
  • Who to contact for support

  • Create a practice activity or announcement. Instructions for creating an activity can be found here
  • Invite a colleague or instructional coach if appropriate.

Phase 3: Launch with Students

Once teachers are ready, you're ready to introduce Seesaw in classrooms.

During the first week:

  • Verify students can successfully sign in.
  • Help teachers connect families.
  • Encourage teachers to assign their first activity.
  • Monitor your Administrator Dashboard for any issues.

Common Launch Tips
