Audience: Teachers
Interactive Video Quizzes allow teachers to embed questions directly into YouTube videos to create more active, engaging learning experiences.
Teachers can generate questions with AI or create them manually, then place them throughout a video to pause playback for comprehension checks, reflection, and formative assessment. Students answer questions inline as they watch before continuing through the lesson.
Please note: School and district admins can control whether teachers have access to any AI-powered features on Seesaw via the AI Features section in Settings. By default, these features are set to "Let Schools Decide".
Seesaw AI customers can create and assign an unlimited number of interactive video quiz. SI&I customers can create an interactive video quiz for 3 credits, and assign it for 5 credits (if SWYK is included).
How to create interactive video quizzes
- Select the YouTube Video option.
- Choose Interactive Video Quiz.
- Choose the video you want to use in your activity:
- Paste a YouTube link.
- or search for a video by keyword(s).
- Select the video you’d like to use and tap Next.
- Optional: preview and trim the video, if you only want students to watch part of the video:
- Drag the trim handles to set the start and end points
- Click Next.
- Select the appropriate grade level
- Select a matching standard (optional).
- Questions will be generated based on the video’s title and description.
- Paste the transcript to generate questions that are specific to the video’s content (optional).
- Personalize the activity with one of Seesaw’s fun visual themes.
- Click Generate Activity.
- Your quiz will appear in the Creative Canvas. Seesaw AI will analyze the content of the video to identify key moments where learning checks would be most effective, and will generate questions and insert them directly into the video. This appears as raindrops (see screenshot below) placed throughout the video at relevant points, allowing students to pause and reflect and demonstrate their understanding before moving on.
- Teachers can remove the question, edit the question, change the timestamp, and add an additional question.
- Each interactive video quiz will also include an exit question at the end to check for overall comprehension, as well as a Show What You Know question, giving students the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding in a more open-ended and authentic way.
