Create an interactive Activity from a Youtube video

Use Seesaw’s YouTube Player for Education to quickly turn any YouTube video into an engaging student activity or class discussion.

Please note: School and district admins can control whether teachers have access to any AI-powered features on Seesaw via the AI Features section in Settings. By default, these features are enabled.

 

About YouTube Video Activities

Seesaw’s AI Generate tool takes any topic, learning goal, or standard and creates an interactive Seesaw activity with auto-graded assessments and multimedia tools. With YouTube videos, teachers can generate two types of activities: 

  • Assessment: Students watch the video and answer auto-graded assessment questions afterwards.
  • Whole class discussion: Present the video and facilitate open-ended discussion questions.
How to use AI Activity Generation for Assessment
  1. Select the YouTube Video option.
  2. Choose Assessment for students watch the video and complete questions independently.
  3. Choose the video you want to use in your activity:
    1. Paste a YouTube link.
    2. or search for a video by keyword(s).
  4. Select the video you’d like to use and tap Next.
  5. Optional: preview and trim the video, if you only want students to watch part of the video:
    1. Drag the trim handles to set the start and end points
    2. Click Next.
  6. Select the appropriate grade level
  7. Select a matching standard (optional).
  8. Questions will be generated based on the video’s title and description. 
  9. Paste the transcript to generate questions that are specific to the video’s content (optional).
  10. Personalize the activity with one of Seesaw’s fun visual themes.
  11. Click Generate Activity.
  12. Your Activity will appear in the Creative Canvas for review and editing. Seesaw AI will automatically create an interactive activity based on the video you selected.

How to use AI Activity Generation for Class Discussion
  1. Select the YouTube Video option. 
  2. Choose Whole Class Discussion to watch the video together and guide a class discussion.
  3. Choose the video you want to use in your activity:
    1. Paste a YouTube link.
    2. or search for a video by keyword(s).
  4. Select the video you’d like to use and tap Next.
  5. Preview and trim the video, if you only want students to watch part of the video.
    1. Drag the trim handles to set the start and end points.
    2. Click Next.
  6. Select the appropriate grade level.
  7. Select a matching standard (optional). 
  8. Questions will be generated based on the video’s title and description. 
  9. Paste the transcript to generate questions that are specific to the video’s content (optional).
