Audience: Teachers
The AI Announcement Assistant helps teachers and admins quickly write clear, friendly announcements for families. You can use it to create reminders, share learning tips, or draft a general class announcement - then customize the message before sending.
Messages generated through the assistant are automatically translated into recipients’ preferred languages, supporting communication in over 100 languages. Rich text formatting options such as bold, italics, and bulleted lists help make messages easier to read and more engaging for families.
Please note: School and district admins can control whether teachers have access to any AI-powered features on Seesaw via the AI Features section in Settings. By default, these features are enabled.
Access the AI Announcement Assistant in two places:
• AI Hub
• Messages tab, when creating or editing an announcement
The AI Announcement Assistant includes prompt options for common communication needs, such as:
• Class reminders
• Learning tips for home
• General class announcements
Create an Announcement with AI
- In the Announcement view click Write with AI.
- Select a prompt chip (for example, Reminder).
- Enter the details of your message (for example: Field trip to the Museum of History on March 2).
- Tap Generate.
- Seesaw AI will create a friendly, specific announcement with:
• A clear message
• An engaging title
• A relevant emoji to capture attention
Edit or Regenerate Your Message
Before sending, you can:
• Click directly into the message to edit the text
• Update the prompt with additional details and click Generate again
This gives you full control to personalize the announcement for your class or school.
Send Announcements in Multiple Languages
The AI Announcement Assistant responds to the language used in your prompt. For example, if you write your prompt in Spanish, the generated announcement will be in Spanish.
In addition:
• Seesaw automatically translates announcements into 100+ languages
• Families receive the message in the language set on their device
This ensures all families can easily understand your communication.
Share Learning Tips for Home
Use the Learning Tips prompt to create quick, meaningful activities families can do with students at home.
To generate learning tips:
1 Select the Learning Tips prompt.
2 Enter the topic (for example, Place Value).
3 Enter the grade level (for example, Grade 1).
4 Click Generate.
The AI will create:
• Short activities (3–5 minutes)
• Step-by-step directions
• Sample language caregivers can use
• A brief explanation of why the activity matters
You can edit these tips before sending, just like any announcement.
Use the Open Text Field for Custom Messages
You can also type any topic or request into the open text field without selecting a prompt. This generates a response that follows Seesaw’s communication guidelines, with a less structured format.
Seesaw uses this feedback to better understand user needs and continue improving AI features.
