Audience: Teachers
Teachers can change student profile icons; students are unable to change their profile icon or display name. If an icon is not selected, the student profile icon will default to the initials of the student's first and last name.
How to add a student profile icon
- Go to Class Settings (wrench).
- Scroll down to Students > Manage Students.
- Tap on a student name.
- Tap Icon.
- Choose an icon or tap Use Photo at the bottom of the screen. You can take a photo using your device or select a photo from the camera roll.
- Tap the back arrow to save the new icon.
Note: When a teacher creates a class using Google Classroom and grants Seesaw access to Google profile icons, students' Google photos will automatically appear as their Seesaw profile icons. If you no longer want to use Google Photos for profile icons in Seesaw, the teacher or admin can update the icon in the student's account settings or through Seesaw's class settings. After the icon is updated, the profile icon will no longer sync from Google.
