Below are some best practices, tips, and tricks for using iPads with Seesaw in the classroom!

For Teachers
- Place Seesaw on the home screen or the first page of your apps so students don’t have to swipe through their apps (depending on your login method).
- Use Split View for multitasking. Use Split View to have Seesaw open alongside another app, such as a web browser or notes app. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen, drag the app you want to use to the side of the screen, and adjust the window size.
- Screen Recording: use the Record button to capture your screen. This can be used to demonstrate how to complete Seesaw activities or to provide visual feedback.
- Ensure that localhost is enabled on your students' devices. To allow this, go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > App Store, Media, Web & Games > Web Content. From there, please add the following as approved websites, then close and reopen the app:
- localhost
- http://localhost:50002/index.html
For Students
- Use a stylus for more precise drawing and writing. It’s especially helpful for younger students who may find fine motor skills challenging.
- Students can ‘pinch to zoom’ on any activity to zoom in on details.
For Teachers and Students: taking photos and recording videos
- Take Photos: Tap + Add → Photo to take a picture of your work. Make sure the photo is clear and shows your work well.
- Record Videos: Tap + Add → Video to record yourself explaining or showing your work. Make sure you are in a quiet place with good lighting.
- When taking photos, get close to your work so there isn’t a lot of background space in the photo.
- When recording a video or taking a picture, your iPad will automatically flip the camera outward. If you want to record yourself, flip the camera to face you (button in the top right corner).
- If you want to upload multiple photos at once to the Creative Canvas, take photos with the camera outside of Seesaw and then upload multiple photos at once.
