Audience: Teachers
Free Response assessment allows teachers to collect open text responses to formative assessment questions from students, automatically mark those responses, and aggregate response data in reporting. Teachers can choose Short Answer or Open Ended questions. Short Answer questions are automatically marked. Teachers will see actionable reporting at both class and student level, along with a streamlined manual marking workflow.

Seesaw will automatically mark questions, short answer questions, and aggregate poll responses after students respond. Once submitted, teachers will have actionable reports they can review. Teachers can view reporting at the class level or the student level in the Gradebook. Open ended questions are not automatically marked.
Note: Teachers can make manual changes and updates to automatically marked work if needed.
What happens if an Activity with Free Response assessment is shared with a teacher who doesn't have a paid subscription?
In this scenario, the Activities sent to a teacher without a subscription can be viewed and assigned, but not edited. Free Response questions will be downgraded to a label for the question and text Frame with no AI or manual marking option.
