What happens if we don't renew our paid Seesaw subscription?
Audience: Admins with school and district subscriptions
If you cancel your Seesaw subscription, connected users will experience a loss of features that are only supported through paid subscriptions. The school dashboard will expire and will be inaccessible to previously connected users.
Nothing created during your subscription will be lost, such as activities, posts, drafts, and skills.
Here is what you can expect during the downgrade process to Seesaw Starter.
School Dashboard & Administrator Accounts
Administrator Accounts
Administrator accounts are a feature of paid subscriptions.
Administrators will no longer have access to the school or district dashboard in Seesaw.
Administrators not connected to any other Seesaw dashboards will be downgraded to Seesaw Starter accounts.
Rostering with CSV Upload
Administrators can no longer roster classes on behalf of teachers.
Seesaw Starter teachers may roster their own classes and students.
Rostering with Clever or Classlink
Schools may not roster with Clever or Classlink if they do not renew their Seesaw subscription.
Seesaw Starter teachers may roster their own classes and students.
Class & Messages Visibility
Seesaw Starter teachers manage their own classes and messages, and no administrator visibility is available.
Schoolwide and Districtwide Settings
Administrators can no longer manage class and messaging settings for the teachers in their school.
Seesaw Starter teachers manage their own class and messaging settings.
Historic Data
Historic data for students is a paid feature.
Teachers and administrators will not be able to download .zip archive downloads of student journals once the downgrade process is complete.
Teacher Accounts
Teacher accounts
All teacher accounts connected to a Seesaw dashboard will be downgraded to Seesaw Starter.
Teachers may continue using the core features of Seesaw after the downgrade process.
Existing classes & students
Existing classes and students are released to Seesaw Starter with the teacher's account where they are connected.
Once a teacher logs in after the downgrade process to Seesaw Starter, they can view and access their existing classes.
Number of co-teachers
Seesaw Starter allows 2 co-teachers per Seesaw class, rather than the 10 co-teachers allowed for paid subscriptions.
Note: Any teachers added to a class while using a paid subscription will remain connected to the class even after the switch to Seesaw Starter, but if they are removed from the class for any reason, they will not be able to be added back above this limit of 2 co-teachers.
Number of active classes
Seesaw Starter allows 10 active classes in a teacher's account, rather than 100 active classes allowed for paid subscriptions.
Premium Creative Tools & Activities
Multi-page posts & activities
Seesaw Starter teachers will no longer be able to create multipage activities and posts.
Teachers can still view and assign already created multipage activities and posts that they created, but they will no longer be able to edit them.
Drafts & send back
Seesaw Starter teachers and their students will not be able to save new posts as drafts.
Seesaw Starter teachers will not be able to send work back to students for revision.
Scheduling activities
Seesaw Starter teachers cannot schedule activities for specific days and times in the future, or assign due dates. Any activity scheduled before the end of the subscription will still be assigned on the selected date.
Create or tag Skills
Skills created or tagged during the subscription will be view only.
Assessment features
Seesaw Starter teachers cannot create auto-graded formative assessments with multiple choice, true/false, polls, and drag & drop questions.
Seesaw Starter teachers will not have access to Progress to view student scores, Folders, or Private Notes. Any private notes or Folders will still be accessible (as will the posts within them), but they cannot be edited.
Resource Library: My Library
Seesaw Starter teachers may create and save up to 100 activities, rather than unlimited activities allowed for Seesaw subscriptions.
Teachers who have over 100 saved activities prior to downgrading may still access all of their saved activities. However, if they would like to add or create additional activities, they will first need to reduce their saved activities to under 100.
Resource Library: School & District Libraries
Seesaw Starter teachers will no longer have access to the School or District Libraries.
Resource Library: Seesaw Library
Seesaw Starter teachers will no longer have access to the full Seesaw library, they will only have access to a selection of sample activities in the Seesaw Library.
Seesaw Messages
Existing class messages
Existing family conversations and messages for active classes will be re-associated with teachers' free classes.
Teachers will be able to continue conversations /announcements in their existing classes with families in their classes only.
Family messaging
Families in free Classes can start private messages to teachers and reply privately to announcements sent by teachers if the "Family Messaging" class setting is toggled ON by the teacher.
Families in Free Classes can always reply to any 1:1/group conversations started by teachers, regardless of whether the "Family Messaging" class setting is toggled ON or OFF by the teacher.
