How to set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

3.png Audience: Seesaw teachers, families, and administrators

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) provides an extra layer of sign-in security. MFA helps keep out anyone who shouldn't have access to your account by requiring a verification code (sent via email) in addition to your password before your account can be accessed.

  • MFA is available for teachers, family members, and administrators who sign in with an email address and password.
  • Student email/password accounts do not use MFA.
  • District Administrators who sign in with email/password are required to use MFA.
  • You'll need access to your email during setup.
  • Seesaw teachers, families, and administrators can enable MFA at anytime.

How to set up MFA

  1. Select your profile icon.
  2. Select the gear icon.
  3. Select Account Settings.
  4. Tap Multi-Factor Authentication
  5. Toggle ON Enable Multi-Factor Authentication.
  6. Check your inbox.
  7. Enter the verification code.

After MFA is enabled, you'll be asked to verify your identity when signing in from a new device, browser, network, or other unfamiliar location.

District Administrators who sign in using an email address and password must complete MFA every time they sign in and reauthenticate every 7 days.
