3.png Audience: Families

Do you want to save your child's work in Seesaw? Below are instructions to download your child's Seesaw journal, including pictures, photos, videos, audio recordings, and text notes or captions. If you only want to view previous work without downloading it, check out Family access to past student journals.

:seesaw-love:Availability of student archives varies based on your school's Seesaw subscription.

A few requirements before you start:

  • Log in to Seesaw from a desktop computer with the a Chrome or Firefox browser. Downloading Journal Archives is not available on a mobile or tablet device.
  • Family members require an email address that has previously been connected to their child's account by their teacher.
  • If accessing a Journal archive from a student account, a student email is required.

How to download Journal Archives

  1. Sign into your Family or Student account from a desktop computer at https://app.seesaw.me.
  2. Tap your Profile Icon in the top left corner, and select the gear icon.

  3. Tap Account Settings.

  4. Scroll down and tap Download Journal Archives.💡Not seeing this option? Reach out to your child's teacher to make sure they have settings enabled for Family Access.
  5. Tap the Download Journal button for the journal you want to download. This might take a while depending on your Internet speed and how many posts your child has in Seesaw.

This is what you get! Files are organized by month and then ordered by the date the post was added. You'll see an .html file with a thumbnail, text notes or captions, folder names, and links (if the post used the Link Creative Tool). You'll also see the original image, video, or audio files.

How to download a Message thread

Families can also download messages from conversations they are a part of. Downloads are emailed as a read-only PDF that includes all messages in a single thread (including ones that have been edited and deleted). Students are unable to download message threads.

  1. Tap on a conversation.
  2. Tap on the [...] in the upper right corner.
  3. Tap Download Message History.
  4. Check your email to view the message history PDF.
  5. The message history includes date and time stamps, sender name, and message content. Thumbnail images and attachment links will also be included where present. Below is an example of the message history:
