With Drafts, pupils can save work in progress and finish it later! Drafts make it easier for teachers to check in on student progress and send pupils feedback.
Drafts are part of our premium offerings, and teachers can start a free 60-day trial for their classes. To start your free trial, tap on Drafts from the drawing canvas.
Please note that the Drafts and Send Back features are only available if the class login method is 1:1 or Email/SSO or if pupils are logging in with Home Learning Codes for at-home access.
To save work as a Draft, have pupils choose the Draft option instead of choosing the green Tick:
Drafts appear in the student’s journal feed with a yellow banner, indicating that the post is a Draft.
Only the student who created the Draft and their teacher are able to view the Draft. If you want to edit the post, tap Show Draft and then tap the orange Edit button.
Note: If a student accidentally closes their Seesaw app or browser window, Seesaw will save a copy of their work on their device or computer. When they open Seesaw again on the same device or computer, Seesaw will recover the work and the student can continue working where they left off. For their work to be uploaded to their portfolio and visible to teachers and family members, pupils should still tap Draft or the green Tick.
Create powerful feedback loops between teacher and student with our Send Back feature. Turn any piece of student work into a draft, so pupils can review and improve their work prior to posting to their journal. In the approval queue, tap Send Back to send student work back to the student.
Teachers can also use the comment tool to leave feedback on work in progress.
With a comment, pupils can review specific feedback from their teacher. If you do not want the comment on the final post, you will need to delete the comment.
Additionally, students can view teacher feedback on their drafts from inside the Creative Tools. When working in the Creative Tools, pupils and teachers can tap the Comment button to see text comments or listen to voice comments on their work.
When a student chooses ‘Finish Response’ on a post that has been sent back by their teacher or ‘Edit’ on a draft, comments will open automatically so a student can view them before continuing.
Teachers can send back a student post that has already been approved by tapping the [...] button > Send Back as Draft.
Students will be notified that their work has been sent back from their teacher, and it will be converted back to a draft. Teachers can use the Comments tool to explain why their work was sent back.
Note: This feature is currently only available on the web.
