Parents able to see incomplete work

I have many families that would like to be able to see the work their student still needs to complete in the Family App.  Right now, they get to see the work that is done, but not the activities that still need to be done.  Could Seesaw make it so families could see the names of activities their children still need to do?  It would make it easier for them to check-in with their students.  Right now, the work around is telling the parent to login as the kid to see what work still needs to be done.  It would be great if they could just login to the Family App, see a list of activities that need to be done or are in draft mode.

Thank you so much for this great feedback! Our team has just launched the Progress Dashboard, which allows teachers to view at-a-glance all the activities within their class, and which students have completed, started a draft, or not submitted work for it. This update is available online and for Seesaw for Schools and Plus users!

Within this update, teachers can download a list of student work to share with the Family of the students. For more information you can also check HERE.

  • This would be helpful for remote learning! Maybe it can be a feature that teachers can choose to use or not.

  • Yes, please! Also, it would be helpful for parents to see work that has been sent back to students from the teacher because there are parts of it that need to be corrected or finished.

  • YES!!! I am teaching remotely and have to "police" parents to get work submitted.

  • This would be an extremely useful tool, as it would allow parents to check the app from wherever they are to see that their children's work gets completed.  At this point, a parent does not know if his or her child's work is done other than logging on with the student to the student version.

  • YES! We need this! I also would like parents to see "draft" work or work sent back.

  • It would be really nice if a placeholder was created in the portfolio that shows that an activity has not been completed.  Maybe the text in the top left stating the activity could be in red to get their attention and it could say Missing.  This way when anyone scrolls through the portfolio it is really easy to see what is missing and they will see the "gaps" in the portfolio.

  • It would also be great if a notification and teacher comments were sent to the parent when an activity is sent back!

  • Yes! Missing work and returned work needs to be easier for parents and students to see.

  • This is what I need!!! As a teacher, I spend so much time emailing, texting, and calling parents to discuss missing assignments. This would be so helpful and such a time saver. Seesaw- please make it happen!!!

  • Yes! Explaining "anything in your child's to-do queue" is unfinished is time consuming.

  • Speaking as a teacher and a parent of children who use Seesaw in distance learning, the ability for parents to track children's incomplete work from the Family app, or simply an automated message that goes to families saying "Your child has ___ incomplete activities this week" would be helpful.  If I don't physically go check my child's school iPad, I can't see what she's missing.  Another (additional) option would be to have an automated message go to a parent if a child's item has been returned to them as incomplete.  Thanks for making this more user friendly as the year progresses!

  • Parents being able to view incomplete activities through the Seesaw Family App would be hugely beneficial for children to be supported from home. In our school alone this feature would impact 41 classes to a total of 1007 students and their families.

  • Parents need to see the work that is unfinished.  The kids put assignments in Draft so they no longer show up in their Activities feed so it looks like they are finished with their work.   Help.
