Ability to Turn Off Multiple Activity Submissions

With the new update, students can respond to the same activity as many times as they want...which is great for some needs but in my remote classroom it is getting challenging when students turn in the same assignment multiple times with different parts completed.

  • Ditto! They are submitting the same thing over and over! Maybe make it so they can only resubmit if I sent it back to them?

  • I can see this being useful for some activities (like daily journals etc) but it would be nice if it was possible to disable it where I don't want multiple replies.

  • I would really like this to be something we can disable. I get a lot of responses from students that are 1/2 done and then another response that is complete. This creates more clutter for me to have to filter through.

  • Yes please an option to turn it off would be nice. This started happening lately a few times and it was very confusing. How do the kids even do it I wonder. I thought they don’t see the activity once they add a response. I know this isn’t a place to ask a question so not expecting a response here-just thinking out loud.

  • We need a way to disable this feature, or only add it to select assignments.

  • This feature does more harm than good. It's frustrating for my students, my families, and myself.

  • Yes, my small students don't understand no matter how many times I explain or least have an option to take it off.

  • I am new to seesaw and it took me far to long to realize what was happening.  Seesaw is not user friendly so far! This feature added an hour to my day when I had to look through mutlple submissions of the same assignment....

  • Is there a way to turn this feature off? I have a student submitting up to 4 multiples of the same assignment all completed differently. It's only happening with one student in my class that I've seen so far.

  • We would love for this to be an option that teachers can toggle on/off depending on the activity.

  • Exactly what I was coming on here to request! Glad others are having the same thoughts. I think having it as an option for assignments for the teacher to choose would be great!

  • As an art teacher with 49 classes, this NEEDS to be an option. I get over 300 seesaw notifications a day and many of them are multiples. Students are able to edit their work after submitting it, so this should not be the way that they can submit answers.

  • Has anyone received an answer to this? We aren’t fully virtual yet but we may end up that way and it’s already an issue on our weekly virtual day. It doesn’t seem to matter how many times we go over the steps with parents, some students are still submitting multiple versions of the same activity—often one submission per page of the activity.

  • I also am receiving multiple submissions from students on multiple assignments.  I teach every student in the school once a week, so I REALLY need to be able to limit the number of submissions I receive, especially on old assignments.  Why is there no answer to all these posts?

  • Adding my two cents. This is a must have option for SeeSaw to continue to be teacher-friendly.

  • This is very frustrating!  I receive over 150+ submissions a day as a PE teacher.  There needs to be an option to just be able to post material without having the add a response button.

DITTO the above, WHY IS NOONE FROM SEESAW RESPONDING TO THIS THREAD?

  • Stephanie, I think you are thinking of something different. If you want to just post material without a response, you can add to student journals and tag the students. I hope this helps!

Additionally, I agree with the above posts. Somehow, students are finding the "respond again" button instead of editing/continuing their work. It's a great feature for something like journal responses, but not great for an assignment that should only be done once.

  • Students are getting frustrated and keep commenting, multiple times to an activity.  I wish you would make the same features available for announcements as you have for activities (voice recording, putting in images, links, etc. because I have many many classrooms and would love to be able to send to multiple classes at once as well.

  • Agree, and I'd like to ask that we get the option to turn off post editing. When younger students want to re-watch a video or re-visit a webpage that was posted in their journal, they tend to edit and re-submit the post rather than just opening it. I imagine it's confusing for parents to see a video from three months ago get re-posted every few days.

  • Regarding this matter, I have students responded to the activity many times as some forgot to add in pages or wrong submission.  I have disable "item editing" and it doesn't work.  The students still can click on the response multiple times to the activity.
