Music teachers need to be able to upload audio files

We really need to be able to upload an audio file (from our google drive) into an activity.  There are songs/listening selections that we would like our students to sing, practice, and hear.  I've converted mp3s to mp4's and seesaw still does not accept them.  Please allow an mp3 to be uploaded.

  • This has come up several times. When Seesaw started, I could upload mp3 files and now, even when we convert them (many of using Zamzar for this), I believe that Seesaw sees it to still be an mp3 and won't accept it. Please bring back that feature.

  • I would like for them to be able to use the audio file or video file as a template, so that the file can play while they are doing an activity.  (i.e. - Kindergarten keeping a steady beat, 3rd graders singing along, 5th graders playing recorder etc to music that I provide.)

  • I agree that it would be beneficial for music teachers to allow students to play audio while recording or working. This would be huge this year as our subject has been hurt so much by the pandemic. If audio could play WHILE students record/write/draw/etc. students could color what they hear, sing along with a track, clap rhythms to a steady beat, record a dance to the music, and so much more. Please work on making this a thing that we can do?!?!

  • You can add audio files from google drive directly to the class journal in seesaw using an ipad.  I haven't tried it on my laptop yet.  Then you can edit the entry.  I do this to share the audio of our current story.

  • Nicole, thank you for trying to find a work around for this.  However, our students are all using chromebooks and I have a mac.  I cannot use an ipad everytime I need to upload music. And, it's too hard for our K-2 students to toggle between 2 tabs to get from the music back to Seesaw.  We need seesaw to allow us to upload mp3's and for students to work in the same tab as the music.

  • I am also looking to have an audio file play while the students play along. Music teachers need this feature in order for our students to be successful. I have tried to convert my file and it still isn't accepted. Please reinstate this feature for us!

  • Yes! I am really struggling with not being able to include mp3 files! I don't want all of the recordings to have a video attached. I also echo what others say about the ability for kids to play a recording or video so that they can echo sing with the teacher or accompaniment or demonstrate their ability to keep the beat/play the rhythm with music.

  • Yes please! The only work around I've found is to use iMovie (or another video software) to put the audio in, assign a picture, or title, and export. A lot of extra work just to let kids listen to a piece of music!

  • This would be so helpful.  I would like to have audio on a page and have my students draw/record their voice describing the music.

  • Here is the best I've got so far- upload your mp3 to google drive, then create a link.  Make sure everyone in your network can view that link in sharing settings, then copy the link to a seesaw page (I add it right to a text box where I give directions).  It will open a black play screen when the kids click the link, so I will have to teach them to click away from that screen to go back to seesaw and draw while the other window plays the audio.  Hope that helps in the meantime.

  • I would like my students to follow a listening map while a piece of music plays without having to create/edit videos each time. It would be nice if I can just put a picture and an audio file on the slide like I do on Google Slides. I'm feeling a bit discouraged with how inflexible and inconvenient the Seesaw platform is for music teachers.

  • Please add the MP3 ability and the ability to record audio tabs from a separate browser into recordings.  Music teachers in our district are struggling to be able to do this with students.
