Pin the homeroom to the top of the class list

The class list is in alphabetical order. The only way I can figure out how to keep the homeroom class at the top, is to name it #1_________________ or 1. ___________________

It would be great if we could just set one classroom to default as the "main classroom."

  • This is a really important feature request.  there is many reasons why being able to reorder the classes would be useful. So pinning one would be ok, but just being able to reorder them all together would be the best.

some other examples of ways folks could use this would be :

-putting classes in the order they wanted kids to do them thru the day,

-clumping types of classes together (core, elective, special education)

  • Yes, please.  I don't care about the entire order so much, but you really need to have a setting to choose the default class.

Right now when you come to Seesaw, you're automatically dropped into the first class on the list.  Which means that every time my elementary school student gets online and his P.E. class (which doesn't have much/any required work) list is empty, he thinks he's all done.

  • Hi Janet,

For now, you can add an asterisk in front of a class name to keep it at the top of the list.

  • Melissa,

Are you adding the * in your SIS, or directly in SeeSaw?

Are you doing daily SIS Syncs?

I suspect that any change not included in the draw will just get over written each day?

  • We added it directly in Seesaw under the class settings, and it was not changed with the nightly sync. We changed the class names entirely (*Ms. Tobin's Class), and it did not affect the sync. We use Infinite Campus. You could consult your IT or just try it and see?

If you have the option to add it directly to your name in the SIS, that will work, too.

We had the same problem with students only looking at the top class on their list (which was Art) and submitting assignments only to that class. Adding an asterisk to the homeroom fixed that problem.

  • I am the IT :P

I haven't had time to take the dives I'd like into the various applications we picked up this year. Though now that you mention the course names changing in SeeSaw, that makes a lot of sense from what I've seen.

Yeah, we are having the same issue with the classes popping up and the kids only doing the first one. We'll give this a try!

    Thanks!

  • Unfortunately, I am just a parent and don't have access to any of the settings.  I reached out to my child's teacher to see if she could change her class's name, but she said it is set up for her by the district and she thinks they would have to make the change at the district level.

  • Janet, you can tell the teacher that changing the class name in Seesaw won't affect anything at the district level.  Teachers can name their Seesaw class anything they want without interfering with syncing with things like Infinite Campus, Clever, etc.  Adding the asterisk is a perfect solution for homeroom teachers.
