Video Feature on Comments for Deaf students

Hi Seesaw! I teach Deaf students and right now we can add spoken or written comments on students' work, but not video. A video feature on comments would allow Deaf students and their teachers to leave short comments in sign language and would also provide accessibility and an opportunity for meaningful communication amongst a group of students who have limited opportunities to use sign language during distance learning.

  • Hi Tracey,
This may not be exactly what you’re looking for, but might be a great work around to start...
With the new features you can leave video feedback on student work. Click the 3’dots under their work, click edit post and then use the video tool on that page to leave the feedback. When you’re done, click the green check. This won’t work on the Notes feature, but works great if they used the drawing feature/template. 🙂

  • Our specialists, especially music, are really looking for this feature so they can respond to students work and guide them with a demonstration about their post!

  • As a kindergarten teacher this would be SO helpful. My students can use the voice option, but face to face contact is so much more meaningful, especially during distance learning. I love how Flipgrid works for this, but want to stay on Seesaw which is a more private platform for my little ones. I REALLY hope this feature gets added!

  • My daughter is deaf and relies heavily on lip-reading.  The video feature would be VERY helpful!
