Groups

Please can it be possible to set groups up within a Seesaw class so that we don't have to select the students every time?

My example

At reading time I have four reading groups. I want to set each group a different task each day. At the moment I have to tick the names of each child each time - this is a pain! (I know I could set them in classes but this is too tricky for kids as they would have a different reading, writing, maths, topic etc class).

What I'd love is to have a system like the folders where I assigned children to a group and then assign a task to that specific group.

It would be a HUGE asset to Seesaw - I think every New Zealand teacher would agree as this is the way we teach here!

  • Yes, please!  I hope Seesaw makes this a feature soon!  I hate having to scroll through my class list and individually assign to specific students!

  • It would be extremely beneficial for us to be able to group students within classes for differentiation purposes and to meet the needs of our hybrid learning model, which is why we purchased SeeSaw. It is very time consuming to assign students learning activities without the ability to create groups. Thank you for your consideration.

  • This would be so helpful! When selecting individuals it's so easy to miss someone or double assign. Hope this becomes a feature soon!

  • This would be SO very helpful. We are transitioning to half in-person students and half distance learning. I would love to be able to give assignments with one click, rather than having to click every student's name.

  • I just started using SeeSaw regularly and have heard such good things about it. But I was so disappointed to realize that group differentiation isn't part of this platform. I think the work-arounds you suggest are the best thing under the circumstances, but hardly adequate. I would love to know when you plan to implement group settings. It would make SeeSaw so much more amazing as a learning platform.

  • Another problem with not having group support in Seesaw is that it becomes very difficult to manage group assignments. With group functionality, you could easily filter your activities by groups, which would be incredibly useful. For instance, when I meet with a particular group, I only want to show them their assignments. But now I need to remember who I assigned what to or click on each assignment to see which group it is assigned to. This process is very awkward. And again, the workaround for assigning groups is very time consuming. I really hope Seesaw does something about this issue soon. Groups are a central part of primary classroom education, and Seesaw's features need to reflect this to remain relevent.
