Lock Page Order in Activity

The new updates are amazing, but I'm wondering if there is a way or could there be a way to lock pages in a certain order within an activity so students cannot move them around.  If we put a link on page 1 to go to page 3, a student may mess up that link jump if they accidentally move the pages out of order.

  • I like this idea! If the pages are linked to page 1 and they are still on page 1, the order of the other pages shouldn’t matter. But if the slides get out of order, I can see your point!

  • Thats a great idea - Also making sure pages can't be deleted. My kids seem to have an amazing habit of magically deleting pages they need to complete!

  • Yes I agree I would love for the pages to be locked in every way. I would like it so the order of the pages are locked and so that they can't delete pages. My kids keep dragging the order of the pages around! Please let me know if this is possible. We create daily journals for morning work, reading, writing, math and link the page to the activity and they are getting them out of order! :)

  • I need a way to keep students from deleting a slide from an activity. My 4 year olds are deleting pages from the slide role at the fight. I need a way to lock this.

  • Yes please.  Some of my students are struggling with the use of Seesaw, as it is new to them.  They are accidentally reordering and deleting pages.  Please make a "Lock" option.

  • I agree as well!! This is a very necessary feature.  My kindergartners rearranged book pages and read them out of order.  A little confusing for them.  Also, the link pages feature is so great, especially if having students do tasks in order.  It would become not so great if they keep changing the order.

  • ALSO, locking items on student end. EX: Teachers were all locking there items thinking students wouldn't be able to move them... however they still can when they attempt the activity. Kids are deleting and moving around items that are crucial for their completion.

  • I agree.  A few of my students have deleted pages or mixed the slides up.  This appears to be very unprofessional, when trying to grade work through Seesaw.

I think a lock on pages would be great.

    Thanks

  • Also agree that this as well as the ability to stop students from deleting pages is necessary. I've got a few regular deleters!

  • I, too, am having students delete pages they don't want to complete.  We desperately need the pages to be locked as a feature!

  • I have several first grade teachers that brought up this issue and came here looking for options!  This feature is really a necessity to make the multi-page option beneficial for our youngest learners.

  • Still waiting on a way to keep students from deleting pages. Has this been addressed yet?

  • I agree with this feature request!  My students delete, duplicate, and change the order of pages, which is especially frustrating with tests and multi-page activities that build.  Seesaw- Please consider allowing teachers to lock pages when creating activities.

  • Yes. Why has this not been added yet? This is suuuuper imperative. I had kiddos rearrange pages on a rhythmic assignment, and when I went to grade their work, it was all out of order wether by accident or no, this could easily be avoided if I could lock slide order so they cannot be rearranged or deleted, and students did not have the option to unlock them on their end.

  • I agree!  My students are always moving the pages around and often get so confused about what they are to do because the pages are out of order.  I also have one little sweetheart that always deletes any pages of the activity that she decides she doesn't feel like completing. The ability to lock the order and not allowing students to delete would help so very much.

  • Agreed.  I have a student who accidently moves pages all over the place and another who intentionally deletes certain pages.

  • I am so frustrated by the lack of response on this subject. Isn't that the purpose of a template? It made me so sad when I found out the "lock" feature I spent so much time using meant nothing and that students could easily unlock objects on my template and move them all around instead of using them as intended, as well as erasing everything I spent time drawing. I do not understand why templates should be editable at in a subtractive way. All student actions on the template should be additive. Why should a kindergartner have the power to delete a page from an assignment, delete a video, or rearrange a background?

  • This needs to be addressed ASAP seesaw. Totally ridiculous that my students are able to delete my work, moved my slides around, unlock what I've locked, etc. Half way through a year of virtual teaching and kinks still haven't been worked out with this site? When I send something out, kids shouldn't be able to change or delete anything I've sent.

  • A feature to lock and unlock pages in order would be helpful, even if it were available to students and teachers. It is easy to rearrange pages by accident. If this were a feature, it would be easier to hold kids accountable who are rearranging and deleting pages on purpose.

  • Students should not have the ability to delete slides or content that the teacher places on them. I am all for allowing them to add extra pages, as some students like to add additional items and pictures to showcase their work. However, I have way too many students that have discovered that they can delete pages and things on them (and the work goes away). Please remove this option from students!

  • This would be awesome. I have used an arrow and linked the arrow to the next page. So this allows kids to access the next page by clicking on the arrow but of course, there is always someone who will move around pages.😅

  • This would be great!  Another teacher and I were talking about this today.  Students are deleting pages and saying that it came to them that way so they dont do all of the work.  Also when I use an activity for an assignment and they can move them around it takes longer to grade.

  • Preventing students from deleting slides and locked items on the slides needs to be the #1 priority for Seesaw in their next update.  Its a complete waste of my time to get each slide exactly how it needs to be, only for students to delete content on the slides or some slides entirely.  (If only said students would put as much energy into doing their work as they put into getting out of work!!). PLEASE fix this immediately Seesaw!

  • I like this idea as well.  I also want to see the ability to lock an image but allow moving it so images don't get distorted or deleted!

  • I see that the first post on this subject was posted in July of 2020--six months later, and pages still can't be locked. What's up with that, Seesaw?

I have several students who delete pages they don't want to complete. Because I can't copy and paste entire pages from one assignment to another, I can't easily go back in and re-insert the page they deleted. This means I have to redo that page of the assignment for that one student--total time suck.

Why hasn't Seesaw listened to teachers on this one? This seems like a pretty basic feature, particularly when the lock feature is available within pages. (When I lock something my students can't move it on their end, which doesn't align with some other comments I see here.)

  • Colleen, per your last comment: they just haven't tried to unlock then. Go into one of your assignments as Sample Student. Using the Touch control, click one of your elements. When the ellipsis comes up, click the menu, and you will see that the "Unlock" option is fully functional. Students are free to unlock and delete anything you have put on the page. It's maddening!

    Please fix it, Seesaw!

  • @Leahdeanthomas -- Oh wow. Thank you for letting me know that.

It is so frustrating when education apps don't respond to teachers' requests. This is one of those times.

  • I would LOVE if we could lock down the slides and keep kids from deleting them!  Also is there a way to track if a student is deleting slides so we can show parents what is happening?  Parents are thinking that the program isn't returning the slides to the teacher and they are wanting another way of submitting outside of the program.
