Create groups within one class
We have been using Seesaw to set activities for groups of students within our classes. It would be great to be able to set up a group and then, with one click, set an activity for that one group within the one class. At the moment we have to select each student individually every time we need to assign a group an activity. Would love this feature!!

Thank you all for sharing this feedback. We are currently working on a beta of Student Groups and would love your feedback. If you want to get early access and provide feedback, please sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGU4ZDuPtNK2AJjY7r87N0pztfqBwzg2V4lC3iFE_UaKzEyQ/viewform. I'll be in touch in the next one-two weeks and enable a beta for your account. Thank you!
We have mixed age groups in a class. Sometimes we need to give specific activities to specific year groups (particularly during remote learning sessions). The feature to assign to a specific group in 1 click would be so helpful.
Yes, it would be great to have an added feature to set up small groups for reading, math, etc. The clicking on individual students for each assignment is very time consuming.
I would love to see this feature too!
This would be especially nice for specials teachers. At our school, we would like to have the specials teachers create classes that have every student in a certain grade. This way, they do not have upwards of 40 classes to look through. The downside of putting every student in a grade in one class is that you no longer are able to tell which homeroom they are in. Having smaller groups within a class would solve this problem.
This would especially be good now with school separating into different cohorts due to COVID.
YESSSSSS!!! I have students who need differentiated material daily. It would be so great if I could separate them into different groups so that assigning them different activities didn't take so long. Please add the ability for GROUPs within a class.
Groups would be amazing. The amount of time I spend finding kids to tick them up for different groups in different subjects is immense.
Yes! I'd love to be able to make groups in a big class. I'm a special teacher and I want to put groups in classes under a big class called first grade, for example. I want to keep the kids separated by class in one big class.
A groups feature will be essential in managing a class split into two cohorts for hybrid learning. It would help build community for when the cohorts merge either for full remote learning or if schools fully open. It would allow teachers to easily push out asynchronous assignments on different days as well as facilitate communication between the cohorts in a class blog.
This would be incredibly useful to our school. Our specials teachers could still have their own classes and the control that comes with those classes. They could then subdivide students in their classes by homeroom teacher. This would allow our specials teachers who do not teach classes to students in the grade level at the same time to have greater ease navigating and assigning work.
Yess! We have groups for reading as well as co-teaching groups. It would save a TON of time to be able to create multiple groups within a class and send activities with one click instead of searching for the kids in that group in the class list every single time.
For sure! We'd love to be able assign activities to students in a class group. We'd also like to be able to create a group of kids from different classes, so that an activity could be sent to that group that spans multiple classes.
This would be incredibly helpful. We do so much differentiation but assigning activities to small groups is very time consuming.
Yes, please create a groups feature!
I agree!! This feature would be especially helpful since our class is using a hybrid model. Even in a regular year, it would be helpful to be able to assign activities by reading or math groups. It would be such a time saver!!
Please, Seesaw - add this feature! It would be so helpful for teachers to be able to assign an activity to a group of students with one click instead of having to scroll through the whole class list and choosing students individually!!
This would be super helpful and make assigning differentiated work much more efficient!
Yes please! That would be so helpful!
Yes please! That would be so helpful!
Yes, please! As a DL Teacher, I need to send assignments to different cohorts of students! Please help with ideas. Could creating a class for DL Teachers with students not in their SIS group in Clever be an option? Would this be confusing to younger students that need to log in with Clever QR Code and not with emails?

Yes, I agree! Many teachers are remote teaching during the 2020-21 school year and we need a way to group students within our class for differentiated instruction. Perhaps a tag feature could be added to students so we can label them accordingly as some might be in ELD or different math vs reading group. A sort feature by tag label and the option to sort by last name rather than the default of first name would also be helpful! Thanks!
Yes, agreed! A group feature would also help us to manage cohorts of students during hybrid learning.
Also, is it possible for a co-teacher to turn off notifications for certain groups?
We have A and B days it would be nice to be able to have groups and assign items on an individual day.
Yes, please! I have a combination class, so it would be such a time saver to have this feature!
I would LOVE this feature! I have Distance Learners and F2F learners. 2 groups would be useful.
I would also use the groups to send out to Reading Groups.
Until there is such a feature, my plan is to put a . (period) in front of my A cohort and my B cohort w/o a . (period). That way when they are alphabetized I can quicky tap for sending Activities on specific days.
Please do this - it would make setting homework so much easier. Along with the ability to schedule the same task repeatedly. So group 1 gets task sheet on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday would be a FANTASTIC time saver.
Yes! I would use this for developmental spelling work, math and reading differentiation. Everything is taking such a long time right now, and this would be a huge help!
I would love to see this feature for my multi-age classroom! It would make assigning work go so much faster!
