Notifications only sent to co-teachers who assigns the activity!

It would be wonderful if notifications only go to the co-teacher who assigns them to make it easier to manage. Otherwise, the classroom teacher gets bombarded with notifications and co-teachers have no idea they have notifications unless they go into each class of each grade level and check notifications before the classroom teacher approves all of them.

Some people can't stand having any number in their notifications and approve all of them just to get the number to disappear. Teachers approve other teacher's posts just to get the number gone and a lot of times they are posts that the co-teacher would send back to the student to add more or tweak.

  • I would really like there to just be a bit more flexibility with the co-teacher thing in general. For example, can't there be a slightly different setting for a specialists as opposed to someone who job-shares the class. This could be part of that. The specialists don't get notifications except for the things they've assigned and the classroom teachers don't get notifications except for things related to what they have assigned. It seems like a lot of people are using this feature for specialists so it would be good to actually look at how that works.

  • As a music specialist whose school is looking into SeeSaw as a possibility for the upcoming school year, I am also worried about this.  If I am listed as a co-teacher for Teacher A and Teacher B, does Teacher B get teacher A's notifications even if they are not co teacher simply because I am co-teacher?

  • I am also experiencing this issue but a little differently. I am an actual co-teacher in the classroom everyday and working with parents everyday but the other co-teacher and I are not getting each other's notifications and we need to be able to see them all. When a parent responds to something it goes to whoever posted the activity but we would like to see each other's notifications.

  • I would really like to see this fixed so that I only get my assignment notifications and not the extra teachers in my class.  .  This would be so helpful!!!

  • Dear God, please fix this Seesaw! I am going crazy seeing 2000+ notifications on my screen! I am a music teacher with 20 classes!

  • As a teacher of 12 classes, this would be fantastic!

  • I'm in the same boat as Annie Smith.  Currently, I have 8,168 notifications because, as an ELD (ESL) teacher, I have access to 15 classes in addition to my own caseload.

  • I agree, as a specials teacher with 35 classes it gets to be too much! Especially when every other special and co-teacher is on the class as well!! Is this being looked at as a fixable issue?

  • Yes, this would be a great new addition. I have several co-teachers added on my class, and I am guilty of hitting "approve all" to clear my list.

  • Yes!
We have access to each others' classes for times when we do rotations or cross-class groupings but then you see each others notifications when there are posts to review etc.

Even just being able to turn off the notifications from some classes you have access to would help.

Though this suggestion is useful too because it would notify you when you had assigned students in another class an activity.

  • Yes indeed. I too am a specialist teacher and share 12 classes. And it is a right pain to wade through 100s of responses looking for the ones related to my work. And then missing ones when another teacher approves all.

Putting activities in folders helps a little but it only filters by responses rather than comments. So any followup comments are easily missed in the stream. Filtering comments into this would seem an easy way to improve this. It would be even better if journal posts could be filtered so you only saw what is related to your activity.

  • Also - please can we be able to see messages other teachers send to parents in the class. If you 'co-teach' on one class the parent may just reply to whoever sent the last message rather than their 'dedicated adult'. Also means as a co-teacher you can't see what's been talked about before. There needs to be like a singular chat with all communication in rather than a separate one for each co-teacher.
