Messaging: Ability to Select Multiple Parents/Guardians at One Time (sped teachers/co-teachers)

I have teachers who have to send adapted lesson plans to multiple students in one class. Right now they have to copy/paste for each parent. They would like to have the ability to select multiple parents to send the same message to. This would also be helpful for teachers needing to send reminders to a set of parents within a class.

  • On the same topic, it would be nice if there were a way to have a group message with a parent, co-teacher, and yourself or even 2 parents in the same household so the messaging is consistent.

  • Agreed!! I have many students with more than one custodial household (mom--dad--grandma) and I have to send 3 separate messages. It would be great to be able to build sub-groups.

  • I would like to also see this feature integrated into SeeSaw. It would be beneficial to have consistent messaging being sent to all guardians of a child in one message rather than having to message each guardian individually about the same child.

  • Yes! Our school days are staggered into 2 groups and I need to send separate messages to each group. I know that it is easy to copy/paste the same message over and over, but there are just other things I could be doing with that time. And I am afraid I will lose track and forget someone. I guess I got spoiled with this feature on Class Dojo and miss it now that we are required to use Seesaw.

I also have have multiple children with 2 parents signed up for Seesaw, which is great....but if I send pics home, I have to copy/paste message and upload pic separately to both parents.

  • Yesss!  Especially now with Distance Learning.  I have kids who are in childcare some of the days and home with their parents on other days...but I don't know when they are with which person.  So, if I send a message out to the parent "hi, is your child having difficulty logging in" and they message back, "He's not with me today"

Instead, if they could be linked I could message ALL adults in charge of that student at once and then whoever is with him can help him.

I have about 6 2nd graders in this situation.

ALSO, if 1 student has TWO parents linked, I have to send the message twice, rather than once to all family members for that student.

  • Does anyone know if this has been addressed?  I have multiple classes at each school (I am an OT) and right now I am having to create tons of indivual messages to not confuse other students.

  • Yes. There are divorce situations where I need to email 3 or 4 people the same message and they need to see each others responses. Even in non divorce situations I often want to contact both parents.

  • Yes, it would save a lot of time if I could select parents to send a message to just as I can select students when posting an assignment.  Currently, it is VERY TIME consuming, especially if I need to add an attachment to the message.  Also, I would like the ability to "cc"  and "bc" the principal like I can in email. Please add this ability to an update.

  • As a specialist, I do not know the difference/role among the adults connected to student accounts, so I don't know if it's mom, dad, grandma, auntie, step mom. I essentially send no messages for this reason.

  • This would be a very helpful update. I have had other teachers request this as well.
