list of activities not completed

I would like to see a list of activities that a student has not completed, rather than having to go through each activity individually to see if they have completed it.

Thank you so much for this great feedback! Our team has just launched the Progress Dashboard, which allows teachers to view at-a-glance all the activities within their class, and which students have completed, started a draft, or not submitted work for it. This update is available online and for Seesaw for Schools and Plus users!

  • Yes! I have an excel sheet showing each student and which assignments they have and haven't completed but it's so time consuming!

  • Hi Jill and Jason, do you want this as a teacher report, like an export you can get each day or week? Or some other idea?

  • I would love to have another tab where I could see a list of unfinished activities- perhaps under the activities tab there could be a section where you could see a list of their unfinished activities?

  • Warning there are a bunch of related suggestions that are all tied together and seems like more work for everyone to separate them out individually.

It would be great to have exactly that. A daily/weekly report of all unfinished activities that could be exported for records. And even a view of all activities over a selected time period that have or haven't been completed. Similar to the awesome skills view you already have but to show complete or incompeted tasks.

Another similar but separate feature would be an auto-generated reminder for daily / weekly update for activities that are incomplete and clickable so students can go directly to the activity. We find ourselves reminding students often to complete this or that.

I know there is a toggle to show only incomplete tasks, but with multiple subjects it's hard to sort and scroll through the list.

One of the biggest issues is that the activity view is cluttered, especially since we have different subjects. So a filter feature for student activities for example sort by class/folder, incomplete, date assigned and including due dates (activities auto archive after this date)

  • Is there a way to click on a student and see what they have completed? Google Classroom has this feature and it is so easy and nice.

  • I like the idea of being able to click on a student name and see what activities they have completed and which ones they haven't. Similar to viewing who in the class has completed a particular activity by clicking the gray bar or viewing the number of posts under a student's name in calendar view, I'd also like to see which ones they have not completed. I've seen many teachers take to pencil and paper to check off who has done what.

  • It would be great if the calendar view could be for students also. If students did not complete an assignment it would stay red in the calendar, and if they finished it, it would turn blue.

  • I think this feature is also needed for STUDENTS!  The older the students get the more likely they have multiple classes and teachers.  If there was an overall list of daily assigned work for students to see would be great instead of having to check each class.

  • Yes, some kind of report is needed!  I need to be able to see what activities each student has not done.  It's frustrating to have to keep going backward and scrolling through tons of posted activities just to see who hasn't done it yet.  And then I have to keep a separate record. ugh..

  • Yes! I have been looking for this option on my class Seesaw all week, but apparently there is no such thing. I would really like to be able to click on a student at the end of the virtual day and say to each student, "You have finished everything, you are dismissed!" or "You still have an assignment to do, stay logged on with me until it is completed." PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!! It is hard to keep up with 20 kiddos and all of their assignments. I don't want to see a kiddo left with 20 assignments to do at the end of a grading period and I could have helped them, but missed it!

  • I have been looking this week as well. I know that students can see in their folders, to do, drafts, etc. but I'd like a report so I don't have to go through each assignment. That is so time consuming!

  • Yes please! An easy way for both teachers and students to see what still needs to be done, away from the activity feed - a simple list/check list/table.

  • Yes, please.

I keep a paper record with all my students listed and a column for each activity (by date assigned).  I put a √ if they have done it and I approved it, a D if it is in draft an O if it is not yet done.

If Seesaw generated the report it could also have an R for waiting to be reviewed.

  • Yes this would be a big deal. A priority in the virtual world that we are in. Most of our work is now assigned

and tracked through this platform. And we are trying to drive some stats on why some families are completing

and some are not completing weekly work! Anyway to let us know if and when this feature may be rolling out?

  • I agree 💯%.  I have 55 students spilt up into teach 40 different periods per week, so their assignments are all different.  The way the platform is set up now it is way too time consuming to find out what assignments an individual student did and did not complete.

This feature is NECESSARY.  Please add that ASAP.

  • I would like to be able to click on an individual students name and see a list of what I assigned them and an indication of whether they completed it, have it in draft, or have not attempted.

  • I have over 500 students in seesaw. I've been painfully writing down on a spreadsheet worked turned in for hours. Please add an export file to help with this.

  • Do we know if this feature is going to happen? I know my teachers would enjoy this as it is very difficult to look through all assignments for the days they are doing at home learning.

  • I would also like this as a parent to see what my child has completed or still has to do at the end of each day. He isn't supposed to have screen time until he's finished all his assignments, but I have no way to know whether he has finished all his assignments! The main thing parents want to know is if their kid did their work. Please tell us!

  • PLEASE DO THIS ASAP!! With remote instruction I am assigning about 80% of my work through SeeSaw. 32 students x 3-4 activities per day is too much to go through individual assigments!

  • I agree, please do this ASAP!  I support ELL students in 5 classes, I have to go through each activity in each class and open it up to see if each of my students have completed it or not.   Then I need to write down the name of the activity so that when I meet with the student, I can tell them which activity to go to. In addition, we have cohort A and cohort B ... which means each activity is in there twice because they are assigned on different days.

  • Yes! I put Seesaw links in Google Classroom,.We  need a way to see on Seesaw which activities are completed. I'd love to see a list of activities assigned by week with the names of students who have turned them in. That would be very helpful.

  • I was looking around for this feature!

As others have stated, being able to go to a student and see what they haven't completed would save a lot of time. Instead of searching around in every activity or keeping records in Excel, I could go to that student and then tell them what they need to complete.

As a side note, having a notification option for Families in the Family app would be great. If families could choose if they want to be notified about unfinished activities and how often (daily, weekly, monthly) that could really help younger learners (like my kindergartners) and their caregivers.

    Thanks!

  • Hi everyone! We're thinking about this problem now and wanted to get some more feedback.

If we built a way to export a report out of Seesaw to show who had or had not completed each assignment would that help satisfy this need? Basically we'll generate something you can open in excel or Google sheet instead of you needing to create it yourselves.

    Here's a quick example:

    1. Does this help alleviate some of this pain?
    2. If there is a student response, do you want a link to it? Or is a Y / N for completion preferable?
    3. Is getting a CSV/spreadsheet export actually unhelpful and you'd prefer a new view in Seesaw that shows this info (It will take much longer for us to build a new screen in the app than the add support for a CSV export).

Please leave comments below on this topic. THANK YOU for the help!

  • It would be helpful to have all of these options.
    1. I like being able to see all students and assignments in one place. A checklist of sorts.
    2. I would also like to be able to click an individual student within seesaw and see a list of assignments they have not completed.
    3. It would also be helpful to download a list per student of incomplete assignments so that we can send them to individual parents.
