Seesaw for Schools: How to Archive a Class

Admins can archive all classes in their school in a single step. It’s best to archive last year's classes before uploading this year’s classes. Archiving will not delete any content, and parents will still have access, but it will clear the classes from your All Classes tab.

If you ever need to get back to archived classes, you can go to the Classes tab, tap on the list icon (top right) and it will show all archived classes. 

How to Archive Last Year's Classes

  1. Sign in to your admin account at
  2. From the School Overview tab, click on the "Archive Old Classes" link in the Admin Tools section.
  3. Select the appropriate date range (usually anything created before today's date).
  4. Click "Archive Classes".

How to Turn ON Historic Portfolio Access for Teachers

Step 1 - Enable Teacher Access:

  1. Sign in to your admin account at
  2. Click in the blue gear icon on the top right to access School Settings. 
  3. Turn 'Teacher Access to Portfolio History' ON
  4. Email teachers to let them know about this tool! 

Once you've enabled historic access, teachers can view prior student work on the Seesaw website. Teachers only have access to the data of students they currently teach.

Step 2 - Send Teachers an Email with Instructions:

Hi Teachers—
You can now browse the prior years' portfolio of your new incoming students on the Seesaw website. Using this information, we can help our students pick up right back up where they left off last year. 

To view past years' portfolios, please:

  1. Sign in as a teacher at
  2. Click on your profile icon (top left)
  3. Click on the 'gear' icon
  4. Click on Access Historic Data
  5. Select a student from the list!
